Answers for finroam learners
Account
How do I change my username, email or password?
Username and name
- Open finroam and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap the edit button next to your name.
- Change your Display name (your username) or your Full name, then tap Update.
Your display name is what your classmates and your teacher see. If you leave it empty, you appear as "Learner". Your full name is only visible to you and appears on your certificates.
Email address
In Edit profile, tap your email and then Change. We send a code to your current address and to the new one to confirm the change.
If you signed up with Google or Apple, your email is managed by that account and can't be changed in finroam.
Password
Go to Profile → Settings (the gear icon) → Change password. You'll need your current password.
I can't sign in
- Wrong password? On the sign-in screen, enter your email and tap Forgot password?. If the address has an account, we send it a 6-digit code to set a new password.
- Signed up with Google or Apple? Use the Google or Apple button instead of a password.
- Never received your confirmation code? Sign in with your email and password: finroam sends a new code so you can finish signing up. Check your spam folder too.
- Account deleted? If you chose Delete permanently, or deactivated your account more than 30 days ago, the account no longer exists. You can create a new one with the same email.

How do I delete my account?
This article explains how to delete your account in finroam, the finance-learning app by finroam GmbH.
In the app
- Open finroam and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Settings (the gear icon).
- Scroll down and tap Delete account.
- Choose one:
- Deactivate: your account is hidden straight away. Sign in again within 30 days to get it back. After 30 days your personal data is erased.
- Delete permanently: your personal data is erased immediately. This can't be undone.
Without the app
Send an email to contact@finroam.com from the email address you use for finroam, with the subject "Delete my account". We only act on requests sent from the account's own address, so nobody can delete someone else's account. We delete it within 30 days and confirm by email.
Signed up with Google or Apple? Write from the email address of that Google or Apple account.
What is deleted
- your email address, name, username and login
- your onboarding and quiz answers
- your messages to us and your comments on questions
- the name on your certificates
- your notification settings and devices
- class invitations sent to your email address
What is kept
Your learning activity (lessons, exercises, scores and XP) is kept for statistics, linked only to a random ID and nothing that identifies you. It no longer appears on any leaderboard or teacher view.
More details: Privacy Policy
I deactivated my account. Can I get it back?
Yes, within 30 days. Sign in as usual and tap Reactivate my account. Everything is back as it was, including your progress.
After 30 days, or if you chose Delete permanently, your personal data has been erased and the account can't be recovered. You can create a new account with the same email.
Classes & challenges
How do I join my class?
- Your teacher added your email: sign up with that same email address and you join the class automatically. No code needed.
- You have an access code: enter it when finroam asks during sign-up. Already signed up? Go to Profile → Settings → Join with a code.
If the code doesn't work, the class may be full or its challenge may have ended. Ask your teacher.
You can be in more than one class. Joining a new class doesn't remove you from another.
What can my teacher see about me?
Your teacher sees, for their class only:
- your display name (or "Learner") and your email address
- your XP and rank on the class leaderboard
- your progress, scores and exam results on the class's courses during the challenge
- when you were last active, and how much the class studied overall
Your teacher does not see:
- your answers to individual questions
- anything you did before the challenge started, or after it ended
- your full name, your age or your onboarding answers
Your teacher's access ends 7 days after the challenge ends.
How do the class leaderboard and XP work?
You earn XP for lessons and for correct answers in the practice area on your class's courses. During the challenge, your XP places you on the class leaderboard, which you'll find in the trophy tab.
Classmates see your display name and XP. If you haven't set a display name, you appear as "Learner". You can set one in Edit profile.
After the challenge ends, the final standings stay visible for a week.
How do I leave a class?
Go to Profile → Settings → Leave institution and confirm. You drop off that class's leaderboard, and your teacher no longer sees you. Your own progress stays in your account.
Learning
How do lessons and the practice area work?
- Lessons teach a topic step by step through the story of Velora, an electric car company. Finish a module to unlock the next.
- The practice area has quick exercises on the modules you've completed, so what you've learned sticks.
- Knowledge checks and final exams test a module or course. You pass with 80% or more, and you can retry.
How do I get my certificate and add it to LinkedIn?
When you finish a course, finroam awards you a certificate. Open it from the course-complete screen and tap Add to LinkedIn (or Share on LinkedIn) to add it to your LinkedIn profile, with its certificate number.
Your certificate shows the full name from Edit profile, so check it's right before you share.
Can I use finroam offline?
Partly. The practice area keeps working without a connection once it has loaded. Work you do offline is saved on your phone and sent automatically when you're back online, so you don't lose any XP.
Signing in, joining a class and loading new lessons need a connection.
Notifications & emails
How do I turn reminders or class updates off?
Go to Profile → Settings → Notifications:
- Daily reminder: a reminder to keep your streak. You can change the Reminder time too.
- Class challenge updates: messages about your class leaderboard during a challenge.
Switch either one off. To turn off all finroam notifications, use your phone's settings.
Signing out also stops class updates on that phone.
I don't want class invitation emails
Invitation and reminder emails are sent by finroam when a teacher adds your email address to a class. Every one of them has an Unsubscribe link at the bottom. Open it and confirm, and no teacher can send you invitation emails again.
Unsubscribing doesn't affect sign-in codes or password-reset emails, which you request yourself.
Privacy & data
What data does finroam keep about me?
In short:

- your learning activity: lessons, practice, scores, XP and streaks
- your class: which classes you're in
- your messages to us and comments you leave on questions
- if you allow notifications: your device's push token and time zone
finroam doesn't use advertising or tracking, and doesn't sell your data. Your data is stored in the EU, in Frankfurt, Germany.
